Nestled on 14 quiet, wooded acres this lovely property includes a pond, a stream and a marked hiking trail all the way to Dolly Sods. The main level of the house provides open space for meal preparation and dining...inside or out. Teens and tweens will love the downstairs family room with plenty of room to “chill” and foosball too! Bedrooms on all three levels are sure to please early risers and night owls. While wrapped in privacy you can still enjoy the comforts of home, and possibly more. Satellite TV, WIFI, wood burning fireplace, and outdoor hot tub are all included. Winter visitors must have 4-wheel drive for access.

  Overall the house is nice with lots of space for our group of 7. The kitchen is totally well stocked for a house that can sleep 12.
  The house itself is musty specially on the ground floor (finished basement with bedroom and bath), but even in the third floor bathroom there was a musty smell, but the floor mats are very old and might be the source of that smell (they should be replaced)
  The house itself could use a good cleaning and the carpet on the main floor felt dirty and again would benefit from being replaced (or at least professionally cleaned)
  The water pressure is low so only one person could shower at a time and the toilets would not flush if the dishwasher was running or someone was in the shower.
  The deck is lovely and the hot tub was great. And, when we called about a broom to sweep the leaves from the deck and lights out, a very nice maintenance man came over immediately and took care of it all.
  We had a great time and the house is really nice in general but needs a good cleaning and some upgrades.

Great outdoor hottub, driveway for sledding, hiked up the mountain to the top to see full valley and Dolly Sods view, house had what we needed - nice big open area to hang out/eat, driveway would be tough without 4x4 or if it was icy. Some minor maintenance/quality issues in the house/construction quality - but nothing that really mattered. Best of Canaan Realty was great and responsive.

  We were there in early October for leaf viewing. And the views from the main floor of Treetop Retreat are perfect - you do feel like you are in the trees. And the hike to Dolly Sods is a blast - I did it twice!
  The only weakness of this house is the lower floor had a musty smell that bothered my son and daughter-in-law and we had to move them. Top two floors are great.

There was plenty of space for us all which included 4 adults and 5 children that ranged in age from 8-15. There was enough in the house to do between movies, puzzles, games, and hot tub that they weren't bored. The house was fully stocked with more than enough towels and bedding, as well as a super efficient kitchen.   We had a great long Labor Day weekend at Treetop Retreat! The location to the Dolly Sods and other hiking options is fantastic. We found the cabin to be the perfect size for two famalies with small kids in tow. The owners have gone to great lengths to provide detailed suggestions for exploring the outdoors and many other options in the area. The only criticism we had of our stay was the overwhelming mildew smell of the basement, which contains a bedroom and the very popular foosball table. The smell was overpowering and made it unpleasant to be spend anytime time on that level. All in all, a great house that we would recommend if you are traveling to this area.

  Pleasant stay at Treetop Retreat in June, 2016. Quiet location in nice WV mountains and forest. The three floors allowed us to spread out for alone time, with plenty of room on the main floor for all of us to gather. Property was relatively clean and decor was enjoyable. The water pressure was not adequate for multiple uses, the wireless internet was weak, and the trail up to the Dolly Sods was only partially marked. But overall we were satisfied with our stay.

  We rented Treetop Retreat for 6 days with my family. It was clean and well-stocked. Nice open floor plan on the first floor. Plenty of little nooks if you wanted privacy to read or relax. Beautiful outdoor seating area with hot tub. Very secluded and private. We had an issue with the hot tub and when I called the management company, they sent a guy up within an hour and a half to resolve it. This cabin is perfectly located for Canaan Valley Resort and Blackwater Falls. It's a half an hour to Seneca Rocks, an hour and half to Romney for the Potomac Eagle scenic shortage of outdoor fun! We plan to return in winter for tubing at the resort and this location is ideal. I wish the owners would consider allowing small dogs.
  
  The only suggestion I have is to provide a sheltered area for firewood. It was raining during our stay, and although our cabin had a nice stock of firewood, it was outside, unprotected, and was too wet to use. We were able to use a couple of logs that were left inside, but we had to purchase a hatchet to make some kindling.

  We loved this cabin. It is very secluded. There are deer everywhere and we even saw some turkeys outside our window one morning. It is well equipped with everything you would need to make any meal. The hot tub was nice and clean. The WiFi is great in the cabin but there is NO WiFi or cell service outside of the cabin. I loved that. It was a true escape. The walk to Dolly Sods is short but steep and definitely worth it! We loved climbing on the rocks. One day it rained slightly so we went horseback riding and then played games inside the cabin. I even read a novel (there are tons of games and books!) The staff at Best of Cannaan was very accommodating. I highly recommend this cabin to any large family or group!

  We had a multifamily, two-generation group that included a tween and two teens, and everybody absolutely loved Treetop Retreat. The house is well up Cabin Mountain, which is fantastic for peace and privacy (but did not require four-wheel drive to access) and made our hike to Dolly Sods Wilderness much easier than starting lower down. The house is well constructed, with windows everywhere you could possibly put one, it's literally like a luxury treehouse. Canaan Valley had many activities to keep us busy, from hiking to horseback riding to ski-lift rides, sightseeing and just enjoying hanging out on the house's decks, watching deer and hearing foxes, and of course the giant hot tub. We will definitely be back!
